Shashi Tharoor: Declare Wayanad landslides a 'calamity of severe nature'

The death toll in the landslides that left a trail of destruction in Wayanad district passed 200 on August 1. Shashi Tharoor, the Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram, said he wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, requesting him to declare it a 'Calamity of Severe Nature' .
Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi arrived in Kerala to visit relief camps.
