Live: Rishi Sunak faces Keir Starmer's questions in PMQs

RISHI Sunak WILL attend Cop27 climate summit next week and vows to take action on climate change.

The PM announced the change in position today, after Boris Johnson confirmed he was going last night.

The new PM previously said he would be too busy to go to the eco gathering in Sharm El-Sheikh.

And No10 said he needed to work on the upcoming Autumn Statement, due to be delivered on November 17.

That triggered an outcry from some MPs who said he should go to show global leadership on the environment.

But Mr Sunak said this morning: "There is no long-term prosperity without action on climate change. There is no energy security without investing in renewables.

"That is why I will attend @COP27P next week: to deliver on Glasgow's legacy of building a secure and sustainable future."

Liberal Democrat Climate Change Spokesperson Wera Hobhouse MP said: "This whole debacle has shown the environment is simply not a priority for Rishi Sunak. He's only going after being embarrassed by Boris Johnson's attendance."

It comes after former PM Boris said he was going yesterday.

All the time we elect MP's who are multimillionaires who then become ministers in government, we will never have a system that supports the ordinary man on the street. Every single one of Rishi Sunaks cabinet are multimillionaires. If you want a fair government it needs to be made up of MP's who actually feel and are impacted by the policies and laws they make. The system in Westminster needs changing. No person standing for election should be allowed a personal wealth greater than £500k. Mps should only be allowed to hold office for a maximum of two terms, and then stand down. That would end the career politicians who are in it for themselves. And it should be made policy that any time an MP is asked a question, they must answer it and address what they have been asked, and not dodge or avoid it as they do now. The British public has lost faith in all politician's from both sides of the house, and unless their is serious overhaul of MP's conduct and the execution of the role they are elected to. We run the very real risk of returning to the riots we saw in the eighties or God for bid it, the end of a democratic way of life.
