Mirtazapine

Показать описание
Mirtazapine or Remeron treats depression and appears especially well suited among those also suffering from anxiety and disordered sleep. Mirtazapine has been largely eclipsed by the more popular SSRIs including Prozac, Celexa, Zoloft and Lexapro. Surprisingly all of the currently available antidepressants appear to offer about the same degree of improvement from depression.

Not uncommonly multiple antidepressant medicines are necessary to control symptoms. Mirtazapine may offer some advantages in combating the adverse reactions caused by other prescription agents. It improves appetite, often resolves sexual dysfunction and counteracts diarrhea associated with some of the other commonly used therapies. Mirtazapine also stimulates appetite.

Unlike most antidepressants that require more than a month to become effective, mirtazapine begins improving depression within 1-2 weeks. Full effects generally require up to a month. Somnolence or sleepiness remain the most prominent side effects of mirtazapine. For this reason the entire dose should be taken shortly before bedtime. Unlike the situation with other antidepressants, relatively few complications arise on discontinuing mirtazapine.

Thank you doctor. You seem genuinely passionate about explaining our medication to us. It might feel like you’re just making videos for whoever to watch but we really do appreciate it thank you

I don't want to sound overly dramatic, but I swear that discovering about, and taking, this drug has been one of the most important life-changing things I've ever done in my life. I went from like 10-20min of REM sleep for YEARS to literally 2 hours per night. I don't have any side-effects, and I don't feel groggy or weird. I think I just got so used to feeling in a fog from years and years of exhaustion. I only take 3.75mg, which is half of the lowest kiddie dose 7.5mg and I am out within an hour or two. It doesn't seem to disrupt sleep architecture in a negative way, it feels like it improves natural sleep. After 2-3 days of starting this, it was the first time in like a decade or more that I didn't feel tired. It's been a miracle. Thanks for the in-depth video!

I was treated by you for a skin issue, you are one of the last great Doctors of the greatest generation of doctors! 25 years ago when I got treated here in Las Vegas I knew you were special but you were ONLY doing Dermatology.
Please keep up your good works, and thank you for your tireless efforts to improve the quality of life for your patience and people all over the world, through the information dissemination of your pharmacological understanding and the videos you produce and provide us at YOUR OWN EXPENSE!
Once again Thank you: John Petzold

I've had anxiety and severe insomnia for years. Ended up addicted to benzos but Zoloft+Remeron has been a life changer. Drastically reduced my Xanax intake and currently working my way down to 0.

You are a great man!

This medicine began helping me after about 25 days at 30 mg. I've been suffering with depression, insomnia, and physical pain from Fibromyalgia.

I've been watching most of your videos for years now and I've learned more from you than any doctor.

I am so greatful and I appreciate your knowledge and respect you so much.

I do believe you have changed my life as I am no longer suicidal, I was able to sleep last night and I woke up feeling like a new person.

I was SSRI intolerant and I could not tolerate any medication all my life till now. At first this medication did cause some side effects but I just kept taking them as I had no other hope of help.

I feel as though my life just changed overnight.

What a father's day gift this is.

I wish I could shake your hand and thank you.

The very best to you doctor I will forever be thankful to you.

It's crazy how polarized the view on these drugs is. Some people swear by them, others go out of their way to condemn them. It's a shame because people considering these drugs are most likely terrified of these subjective anecdotal reviews. I know I am.

I have bipolar type 1. I take zyprexa (olanzapine) and zoloft (sertraline), and recently mirtazapine. My life has done nothing but improve since taking Mirtazapine. This medication can be applied to bipolar treatment so long as you're on a mood stabiliser or antipsychotic.

I don't know if you read a comment I made on a previous video asking if you'd cover Remeron or you just covered it but thank you for this. My partner has been on these for several years and I really needed a brief overview of the medicine. Great channel 👍🏾

Update: after years of Remeron my partner has finally been free of this drug for 8 days.
