WHOA. Best EDC storage solution... is from Ikea?! - (IKEA Elloven)

Sometimes, the best option for a purpose isn't even what it was originally intended for - in this video, I share a truly unexpected, yet best budget EDC storage solution from, of all places, Ikea! Everyday Carry organization and storage is sometimes an afterthought, but as we accumulate more and more things, we need to find ways to keep clutter to a minimum. The Ikea Elloven computer monitor stand (wth?) is my number one recommendation for both looks, organization, and most of all, budget!

When it comes to EDC storage, I've tried everything from cluttered drawers to rolling tool chests, but as I've gotten older, decluttered, and have cared a bit more about the way my apartment looks, these Ikea Elloven computer monitor stands combined with the Ikea Billy Bookcase is a match made in heaven - satisfying my everyday carry storage and organization needs, while working well with my marginally heightened sense of interior design, lol.

I now have four of these Elloven stands, and you can see them in the background of all of my videos. One on each shelf, they allow me to compartmentalize and organize my EDC collection by category in the drawers, and, as a HUGE bonus, act as a shelf-splitter so I can take advantage of so much more vertical space on each shelf for display and storing things that don't fit in the drawers.

I don't think this can really be considered a "hack", but it's really incredible how perfectly the Elloven monitor stand fits onto the Billy Bookshelf. For added functionality, I added the Oxberg doors and then drilled holes so I could route wires and cables through the shelves.

Beyond these Elloven stands, I also use the Revov Tray Box by Mordeco which I backed at an earlybird discount when they first launched on Kickstarter. I find them to be on the expensive end now at full retail, but for the desktop fidgeters out there, the spinning magnetic top is VERY satisfying, and as an added bonus, matches perfect with the Elloven.

Having watched another of Maurice Moves’ videos, I was inspired to get the Elloven as stylish extra storage. I love it! It sits unobtrusively on my living room buffet and my laptop slides easily underneath. I use the main part of the drawer for large notepads, blank paper, writing paper, labels and sticky notes. The front small section I use for USB sticks, paper clips and other small everyday items like erasers and behind it are my most reliable pens and pencils. Other stationery gear like small scissors, Blutak and roller tape fit nicely. Sitting on top, is an attractive, low-profile rectangular woven basket where I drop other assorted important papers: receipts, correspondence, brochures and unpaid bills (which I file or cull from time to time). Having all my everyday essentials in the one handy spot has reduced my stress enormously!

I had the Tengu and passed it on QUICK. I love your other choices. Before I got into “EDC” collecting, I was strictly a Benchmade guy and their edges lasted a WHILE…the Bushcrafter has an insanely, well done heat treat and blade profile. I did an entire “survival weekend” and harvested an animal with it and it still sliced when I got home.

Maurice - the Elloven monitor stand is genius! Thank you for the recommendation. I use the space on top and under the drawer as well. Two Nordik valet trays fit side by side lengthwise on top and underneath.

I enjoy your out of the box thinking to find an aesthetically pleasing and functional storage solution, plus the tips for modifying. And, now I'm curious about that blade!

Please talk more about the Tengu 601. We maintain over 50 acres. I love not only carrying a good knife but also keeping blades handy like in the barn, the four wheeler or the tractor.
BTW a multi tool is a must in the tractor’s tiny tool box.

I've just bought the screen draw base and I love it so much too that I'm buying 4 more. Great for kids bedrooms.

I have the Elloven at both work and home to make our very minimal workstations more useful. My boss came in to my office and noticed it, now he has one too.

Man, that's a top level production video, like you have a full team prepared the script for you, precise, inclusive, detailed and not long and boring, after watching a lot of edc videos you're the closest to a real TV show or program, great job sir, salut 😉

Thanks for the Elloven review. It turns out that I have just the right size of gap under my enormous monitor shelf -- made from various Ikea parts to support both a video and audio monitors -- to fit an Elloven in.

If you need more than one drawer of storage, consider also Ikea's Kvissle letter tray unit, which has four cork-lined trays plus a fifth area at the bottom. It's cheaper than the Elloven, and stackable too. I use one to store in-progress 3D-printed model parts by my workbench, and the cork lining on the trays ensures the parts don't get damaged or roll around when I slide the drawers in and out.

Dude this is some very high quality content! You will grow for sure with more stuff like this. My only advice is to pull the A roll shot out wider. It's almost distractingly close to your face when you're talking. Keep it up bro!

Ikea has been holding the EDC community down for ages. Loads of good stuff there!

😳 Why didn’t I came up with this idea? We have the Elloven as a computer stand indeed, and my EDC stuff is laying everywhere in the house, because I haven’t proper cool storage. I’m going to Ikea again 😂

Thanks for this review. I'm going to check dimensions because actually I "built" a gaming laptop/hard drives stand using Ikea bamboo cutting board and their metallic shelves for glasses 😂 I have tons of hard drives and if I can fit them inside and under this solution it's gonna be more elegant.

I end up buying this stand because of the Zack in the wild channel he mentioned your channel so I definitely appreciate this little setup.

HA! I already have one of these!! I found it randomly in the As-is section and was like- this is PERFECT for me! Sadly, I couldn't bring it over to Korea with me, but maybe they'll have it at Ikea here too, even if I have to pay full price this time ^^
