The Volkswagen Golf GTI is one of our favourite hot hatches, and soon it will be get a boost with more power, more torque and an LSD. The Golf GTI Performance will be the standard 2019 Golf GTI here in Australia to better target the Hyundai i30 N. But have they done enough? Tom tours the new Golf GTI in Victoria.

I'm so glad I've got my manual GTi 2018 now!! I love the manual gearbox. I'll be tuning mine to up to well over 200kw. So I'm happy I've made the right purchase. Love your videos Tom keep them coming :)

Thanks Tom... not your fault but the lighting in that venue really didn't do justice to the Atlantic Blue paint which is a lot brighter in real life. Shame the Brecia wheels aren't standard - hopefully they can be ordered without having to buy the option pack. Great video as always.

Correct me if i am wrong, so for the 2019 models in Australia we won't get a normal GTI, but the GTI Performance and we will just stick to calling it a GTI, until the TCR comes out in 2020?

I have a question, hope you can help me. I'm able to spend $50, 000 - $51, 000 in my next car. I was originally thinking on buying a Highlander Tucson just because SUVs are so popular these days and never have owned one, but after watching your videos and see how enthusiastic you are with VW Golf GTI, it made me wonder if should actually go for this particular sport car. My wife would go either way. We only have 10 year old son, so we are not a big family. In a car I value how sound proof the cabin is at high speed. What would you do in my case between these two? How will the 2019 Gti 180kw compare against the renault 2018/19 megane rs 205kw dsg and the 225kw trophy? Always loved the Golfs but Renault has stepped up the game with the RS not only with power and features & the exhaust note but also a 5yr warranty.. whats your thoughts?
