Σύμφωνα με χθεσινή ανάρτηση στην ιστοσελίδα της Τουρκικής εφημερίδας Yeni Safak, την οποία αναπαράγουν σήμερα τα Ελληνικά μέσα ενημέρωσης, το γραφείο του κυβερνήτη της Κωνσταντινούπολης με ανακοίνωση του, η οποία αναρτήθηκε στο λογαριασμό του στο twitter, ενημέρωσε ότι ο Μουεζίνης Οσμάν Ασλάν, που υπηρετούσε στην Αγία Σοφία, από την πρώτη μέρα που μετατράπηκε σε τζαμί, ως εθελοντής ενημερώνοντας τους Μουσουλμάνους πιστούς σχετικά με τα μέτρα για τον κορωνοϊό εντός του ναού, απεβίωσε την Κυριακή 2 Αυγούστου, ξαφνικά λόγω καρδιακής ανακοπής, κατά την διάρκεια της υπηρεσίας του, δηλαδή εντός του ναού της Αγίας Σοφίας.
