Don’t under estimate the power of skiing and snowboarding. These activities have very real and lasting positive impacts. Winters up here are long and dark and cold and having a mental crutch, a source of joy and instigator of gathering and getting outside can be life changing!

Pro-tip:
Try not to buy gear for your kids that’s too big in an effort to ‘make it last longer.’ More times than not it leads to more frustration and less success.
It’s not like you throw the gear in the garbage when they outgrow it (at least you shouldn’t be) it’s easy to resell gear for at least 50% of your initial investment, and that’s exactly what this is, an investment in their future, not simply the cost of a distraction like many toys are.
1. Buy used when possible. When buying equipment used and taking care of it you can sometimes sell it for the same price as you bought it for.
2. Many ski areas have a local Facebook group dedicated to gear trade/sales in your area as well as the broader “kids snowboard trader North America’ Facebook group
4. Lastly, young kids ride free at almost all ski areas so start em’ young and enjoy the life long benefits! [link in bio for our blog post with more tips]
