Maze Cricket - You Don't Own me /Space Pop Cover feat. Klaus Nomi

This is a Space Pop cover I did on the 60's classic featuring samples from the LGBTQ Icon Klaus Nomi's 1981 version.

I have always been a fan of both 60's pop and 80's new wave, and as I was listening to Klaus Nomi's version of You Don't Own Me, I had an idea for doing a version of my own, featuring samples from his recording, since I find his voice and whole performance really captivating.

While jamming with my synth and coming up with a structure for the cover, I thought it would be a good fit to also include his most iconic song "Total Eclipse" in my mix, and for that purpose I used the guitar riff structure from the intro and his vocals from a live performance.

Ultimately this is a tribute to a beloved song, and two amazing artists both of which are not alive right now for a collab, so I made it happen virtually!
