It is considered to be the second port of Athens, with regular summer ferries to Naxos, Santorini, Mykonos and Paros as well as Evia.

It is smaller and quieter than Piraeus, the main port of Athens and considerably closer to the Airport. As such it is a sensible and viable alternative to Piraeus should your destination be serviced from the port.

In the summer Rafina has a second purpose, as a weekend getaway for the Athenians. There are many second or weekend homes in Rafina and it has a small beach. In the summer there are many restaurants and bars and tavernas which make Rafina an ideal weekend spot for residents looking for a break from the heat of Athens.

If you are visiting Athens and then going on to the Greek Islands, or simply landing at the Venizelos Airport and then continuing to the islands, consider Rafina as your alternative point of departure to Piraeus.
