Welcome back to the second part of our Skiathos Travel Guide! If you’ve been following along, you already know that our first 72 hours travel vlog about this Greek island were packed with many great places to visit and explore on Skiathos island, after my visit to the hospital.
From exploring the peaceful Kolios or the bustling Skiathos Old Town to embarking on the unforgettable Mamma Mia Tour to Skopelos and soaking up the sun at the iconic Lalaria Beach, our adventure has been nothing short of spectacular. Accommodation Skiathos: Neapolis 21 Suites Skiathos
This was our second accommodation on Skiathos island, after staying for 4 amazing nights at Villa Albanis, presented thoroughly in my previous episode. Located just a stone’s throw away from the heart of Skiathos Town, this modern yet charming accommodation offers the perfect luxurious stay.
Must-See Attractions in Skiathos and around:
One of our first stops was the Evangelistria Monastery (Ιερά Μονή Ευαγγελισμού της Θεοτόκου), a peaceful oasis nestled in the hills of Skiathos. This historic site is not only a place of spiritual significance but also a window into the island’s past. A free to visit hidden gem where you can relax and embrace the peace.
But Skiathos isn’t just about serene retreats; it’s also a haven for thrill-seekers. If you’re a fan of aviation or just love a good adrenaline rush, plane spotting near Skiathos Airport is an absolute must. The runway here is known for being one of the shortest in the world, which means that planes come in for landing at an astonishingly low altitude.
The Best Beaches of Skiathos
Of course, no trip to Skiathos would be complete without spending some time on its world-renowned beaches. In this episode, we take you to some of the island’s best:
1) Koukounaries Beach, often hailed as one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece.
2) Agia Paraskevi, a quieter spot that’s perfect for those looking to escape the crowds.
3) Vromolimnos Beach, known for its vibrant atmosphere and stunning scenery. This beach is a favorite among both locals and tourists, and it’s easy to see why.
4) Ammos Beach, a hidden gem of Skiathos that’s a bit off the beaten path. Tucked away in a secluded cove, Ammos offers a more intimate beach experience.
Greek cuisine: The Best Places to Eat on Skiathos
After all that exploring, we had worked up quite an appetite, and Skiathos did not disappoint when it came to food. In this episode, we tried out some of the island’s best restaurants, each offering its own unique take on Greek cuisine.
1) Under the Pine Tree, a quaint taverna that lives up to its name. Gyros, souvlaki, perfect tzatziki, this restaurant has it all. We ate twice here and it was simply amazing. Near this taverna, you can find Koukounaries Supermarket and Pikachu :)
2) The Beach Taverna on Koukounaries Beach, where we enjoyed a meal with our toes in the sand.
3) Akrogiali Taverna, a family-run restaurant that’s known for its fresh fish and seafood.
4) We couldn’t leave Skiathos without trying Maria’s Pizza, a local favorite that has gained quite a reputation on the island. Pizza, pasta and Italian cuisine for everyone.
5) Grill House Koziakas - we found the best grill in Skiathos.
6) Fregio Ice-cream.
