The video clip that inspired the documentary "Hiwwe wie Driwwe - The Roots of the Pennsylvania Dutch" ("Hiwwe wie Driwwe - Pfälzisch in Amerika", 2019) and the upcoming sequel.

Das ist ja ein interesantes Video. Pennsylvanisch Deitsch hatte ich noch nie richtig gehört (nur das geschriebene etwas mühevoll gelesen), hab mich gefreut als jemand, der Deutsch als Zweitsprache spricht, das endlich zu hören. Wo es fließend gesprochen wird, hab ich mich überrascht dass ich fast alles gut mitbekommen habe. Schade dass es relativ wenig auf dem Internet auf dieser Dialekt gibt, ist ja gut dass die diese Dialekt aufrechterhalten, und die mit der Welt teilen!

Ich kumm aus de Palz und mag das Pennsylvanisch-Deitsch sehr. Ich habe auch schon welche aus Pennsylvania in der Pfalz getroffen. Ich hatte von einem davon gehört er spreche "Pennsylvanisch-Pälzisch" Ich finde das super. Fände es schade, wenn diese Sprache/Dialekt ausstirbt. Aber das dieser Dialekt sich immer ein bisschen ändert ist ja klar. Ist der Lauf der Zeit. Die heutigen Pfälzer sprechen auch anders wie früher. Im pfälzischen Dialekt merkt man auch den französischen Einschlag, den habe ich auch im Pennsylvanisch-Deitsch entdeckt "sell" z.B. Jedenfalls habe ich mich sehr zu Hause gefühlt mit der Sprache und würde gerne ins "Kumm Esse-Diner" gehen. vielleicht finde ich dort "Grumbeer-Supp mit Quetschekuche". Das ist eine Palzisch dialekt, aus der Rheinland. I speak some Hochdeutsch and immediately noticed that this is a form Palatine german spoken in the Rhineland between Saarland and Palatine, there seems to be a lot of English loanwords but the vocabulary is still pretty comprehensible to a German speaker, amazing that a language could have survived for over 350 years.

I understand 95-100% of it and I evenn assume, that I could be understood even by the most backroads Amish Pennsylvania-Deitsch speakers. That said, I am, literally, from the parts where these people and their languuage have originated from - there's even some knd of monument to those "brave few, that made out to the new land", as a couple of hundred of people from my town went to the US, to settloe there, 400-500 years ago.
I was born in Mannheim, capitol of the "Kurpfalz" and PPennsylvania-Deitsch sounds more than familoiar.

Klingt für mich als Bremer wie Schwäbisch mit 'ner Menge Rheinfränkisch. Plattdüütsch versteh ich manchmal nur mit größeren Mühen als diese feine Sprache hier.

The song from minute 1:46 sounds like the "Lied der Deutschen". Also the words are similar. Probably these words are in Pennsylvanisch Deitsch... What is the exact title of that song ???

It's great that when they say "do hie" it's exactly the same as Bernese Swiss-German "do hie", which almost no other dialect in Switzerland does (usually it would just be "do" or only "hie", but not both).

Ich komme aus Sachsen und kann es teilweise kaum verstehen. Der bei 24:40 spricht noch am deutlichsten.
Die Deutschkenntnisse der Lehrerin bei 13:11 sind auf jeden Fall noch stark ausbaufähig.
