My Mum-in-law has Dementia and lives in her own home. Life has been hideous during the past few years. We just lurch from trauma to trauma with her with little help, advice or knowledge as to how to deal with her condition. She doesn't eat, we complain, the carers say that she's violent towards them, they don't encourage her to change her soiled clothes, we complain, well, she's violent against them, they don't help her change her bed, well when they try she gets angry and violent against them, she won't wash/shower, they don't encourage her, well she gets angry.. We live 7 hours drive away from her and I worry about her every day. We talk a good story of care in this country but we don't really deliver a good level of care. The people in this video seem very caring, but it's all words. Living the distressing life as the children of a woman with dementia with the lack of support we get, and the poor care she gets is completely different to that portreyed in this video.
