Substitute the rare EM85 (6DG7) tuning eye vacuum tube with a cheaper EM80 (6BR5) or EM81 (6DA5)

Here's a simple trick that might save you more than $50: Use a low-cost socket converter to make use of a cheap EM80 (6BR5) or EM81 (6DA5) tuning eye tube instead of the rare and very expensive EM85 (6DG7) tube.
