I understand there's a pandemic going on and all but this ceremony felt like a funeral

I liked the theme of unity and moving forward. It was simple and the Japanese did with their heads held high.

It was sorry for me as a Japanese that the original ceremony which was planned last year was not showed today...
I’m so sad to hear it was the worst opening ever...
It’s all because of the COVID.... I hope the athletes can do their best even though it’s the worst environment...

I expected abit more of Japan in this opening ceremony, ye i get the "be nice etc" theme, but its like a wasted opportunity to give a nice show, that only olympics can create, about Japan to the world

I mean the ceremony might be bad, it's not that bad...
The worst part should be the Japanese offering to international athletes. Card board beds, low roofs, extra small toilet for entire team, polluted river, extra small unsafe ping pong field...
Pls just don't give up!

For this opening ceremony they should've dropped the "doing it live in reduced capacity" charade, made the opening like a movie - away from the stadium, real time/partly recorded from a studio with special effects, and then cut to the athlete parade (with the empty seats obscured by camera angles or modified with VFX and a small but nice hut for the committee, emperor, and Olympic torch).

For me is the worst opening ceremony that I have ever seen, keep in mind this is 2021 and not 1964, this wasn't at the level of the current time, only the drones and the pictogram thing were the good parts
