Soo... Sylar's ability was that he understood how things worked when he looked at them. That's how he assimilated the abilities, by taking the victim's brains apart... right?
I never really understood what his original power was, this is the best explaination i have

Sylar actually looked happy working on his watch.

Imagine if Sylar never would've discovered abilities and remained the way he was. That's what makes Sylar tragic. He truly wants to be more than a watchmaker and be different and unique. Don't we all have that feeling.

Gabriel would never have become Sylar if not for Chandra. He wasn't a bad person at first.

He should have been a neuro surgeon instead of a serial killer.

Such a good scene we see sylar before he turns evil he was actually a good person but the craving to be someone important or special or even wanted got to him

The guy went from fixing watches for free to slicing innocent people's brains on a daily bender in less than two hours.

Sylars power is so interesting to me. A very subtle power at it's core if you think about it. He could have - and would have likely gone his entire life without even realising he had it. It clearly has the potential to turn him into a genius in any field he chooses, yet it had the potential to corrupt him and turn him into a monster. He discovered the dark side of his power and gave in to temptation. I love the idea of a power like that. I don't really view the power as dormant here, it's obviously working, but no one noticed. The idea that you can have a power that gives you an edge in life, but if you take it too far you lose control of your own power and give in to madness? An amazing concept for a super power imo.

A self winding coil inside a quartz watch... and a manual wind watch where the ratchet and crown wheel ticks along...

I always get goosebumps the first time he looks at the watch and starts being Sylar.

Once he gained control of his power with Elle’s help, Sylar’s ability evolved into a different version of Peter’s original ability (empathic mimicry), except without the “empathic” aspect.

At least that’s how I interpret it.

And then... the sylar hunger starts... what a acting masterpiece! He and Hiro are the best actor's performances.

It's the second half of 2022 and I'm still watching this show every night. Can't get enough

Notice how all the clocks are silently ticking away until Sylar strikes down Brian. Suddenly they're all loud, they're out of sync, he can hear each and every one of them all the time, and he can tell that what is wrong with all of them. The hunger isn't just a drive to acquire more, it's very likely a part of OCD - his mind literally needs to fix and mend things and improve, he has to have everything understood - it's compulsion.

So this is where he got the telekinesis from.

I loved this show when I first started watching it. I binged season one and two and thought they were great. Then... season three/four happened. Once the show got different writers it pretty much went downhill in quality for me. It took me a whole year I'd say to even be bothered to watch the last season. Oh, what it could have been if the original writers stayed on board.

And don't get me started about the reboot/spinoff, Heroes Reborn

This show had some of the most interesting powers, makes the Marvel and DC stuff seem kinda basic in comparison.

But if anyone has heard of the webseries Worm... that story had the most creative and mind-bending powers you could ever imagine, and a whole system behind them.

Fantastic series, probably the best superhero story I've ever read or seen.

I like that he even understands Chandra's motives as soon as he gives him a good look.
