Taylor GT-e Urban Ash vs. Eastman ACTG-2 e OV | Comparison

Comparison of my two "smaller body" acoustic guitars. The new TAYLOR GT Urban Ash vs. the EASTMAN actg-2 OV.

Taylor starts at: 02:46

Eastman starts at: 08:00

Taylors new body shape "Grand Theater" (GT) is slightly bigger than the size of the Eastman but therefor Chinas new travelguitar is damn loud for its size!

For recording i used a SE Electronics SE8 between the 12th and 14th fret, going straight into my UAD Apollo Twin X.

Both guitars are a little processed (SAME SETTINGS) - EQ & Compressor

Strings i used:
TAYLOR: D'Addario phosphor bronze 12-53
EASTMAN: D'Addario nickel bronze 12-53

Eastman sounds less tinny. I think you would grow tired of tinny Taylor sound. It is good to see that both are all solid

Always Taylor for me. My 314ce started out with a focused mid/high range and thinner low-end but after 10 years has come to have a full/balanced beautiful tone. I will be grabbing a GT for Christmas.

Nice comparison man, i think that the Eastman has a more complex sound to my ears, maybe less bass, but for its price i believe its the winner!

Both of them sparkle, perhaps the Taylor a little moreso. But let's not forget that there is more than $1, 000 difference in price so I would expect a difference. However, is there $1, 000 worth of difference ? I think not, so it's the Eastman for me all the way.

Just purchased a Taylor GTe Urban Ash. Loving the feel, sound and smaller body to my other dreadnoughts and orchestra size acoustic guitars.

I'll buy the Eastman and with the money saved from the Taylor, but another Eastman.

I think I prefer the Taylor, although the Eastman clearly has the most dynamic range, harmonics and resonance its too bright / harsh on my ears. I prefered it over the Taylor for the fingerstyle bit though. The Taylor is a little bigger sounding, but also more compressed, less depth to the sound / flat / lifeless. In truth I would buy the Eastman in the Taylor body size if I had the money ;).

Thanks. As an armchair player with small hands, I'm always looking for a high-quality small, short-scale instrument like the Eastman.

Day and ninght. Taylor sounds way warmer and organic.

A better comparison would be the Eastman vs GS mini.

Eastman sounds way better balanced to me. Taylor has that brittle Taylor high end sparkle that gets so annoying after a while. Eastman is well rounded very nice tone.

Eastman sounds boxy and highs sounds tinny but overall has nice sustain. I prefer Taylor.

I much prefer the Keith Urban standard cardboard against the Esteban Turquoise cardboard. Ummm...overall- Eastman. It's just more interesting. You Taylor Fanboys just always say Taylor no matter what.

Taylor setting epic sustainability standards forcing market to follow, great demo and studio

Nice demo. However the mic is pointed at the 14th fret approximately of the GT and more like the 9th fret of the Eastman. So that throws the low end comparisons off, some. How do you compare the two "in the room"?

The Taylor resonates so much better. I feel like you hear more of the wood. The Eastman isn’t bad, just a little more metallic in sound. Both great guitars though
