While studying in Berlin my host mom took me to see this concert and meet her friend in the orchestra 😢 I finally found a video

Russian XIX/XX century music is the best, its level of complexity is higher than all the rest. In rhythm, harmony, melody, folk links. An adaptation of this music was a part of the song “I believe in Father Christmas” by Greg Lake, arranged by Keith Emerson. Prokofiev was a genius, but Keith Emerson, putting perfectly the classical music into the rock music, was a genius too.

I played this as a bass clarinet solo my junior year of high school. It's so fascinating to hear the difference between just a bass clarinet and piano compared to an entire orchestra. Still one of my absolute favorite pieces
