@GravelBikeCalifornia - thank you for your thorough, nuanced review. I've had my Seigla Ultimate (13 Speed Red) for about 3 weeks now. My friend here in Southern AZ let me test ride his Force-equipped Seigla. I couldn't believe how much better my wrist and forearms felt compared to my old rigid bike. Here in Southern AZ, I can really use the tire clearance...many routes have sand stretches that will have you walking unless your tire provides enough flotation to keep pedaling.

Been riding and racing my Seigla Race model since 2023. The True Grit fork makes riding everything but the roughest terrain smoother and much more comfortable. I did have a failure of my front rim but eThirteen replaced it without a hassle. Love mine and won‘t ride a rigid fork ever again.

I've been looking forward to this review. Thanks for sharing your Lauf Seigla.

Zack, GREAT review! I picked up a LAUF back in June of 22' and have loved it. The tire clearance is fantastic and you won't beat the "bang for the buck" on the build. The only thing i've found quirky is the "uneasy" fell you can get on a fast road decent. If I have a gravel ride that has more road than dirt, I take the Diverge 2x.

Owning the Seigla for about a year, I can confirm it's a remarkable tool. I added the ergon/canyon seat post to have 3 cm compliance in the back and now it's a magic carpet 😊

Still love mine! I replaced the fork to see what the ride was like and ended up going back to the suspension fork. Great review!

I love my Seigla!! (2024 Weekend Warrior) 12/10 would highly recommend. This bike is amazing. I ride mostly on singletrack here in San Jose CA, and I can confirm it handles those trails like a beast - going up steep climbs or going downhill and navigating rough terrain. That front suspension fork really does smooth out the high frequency vibrations; I feel less "beat up" after a ride. It doesn't do great against big rocks/hits, but that's not what it was designed for, and I do my best to dodge those big hits anyway. Overall, I can't say enough good things about this bike. If you're looking for a gravel bike, get yourself a Seigla! I promise you'll love it!

As someone new to off-road and gravel coming from the road, the Siegla immediately caught my eye to give me a little more control, comfortability, and confidence descending as I adapted, and continue to do so, to the off road. While I certainly felt slower on the road, I have been able to adapt my riding style to it so it's not as noticeable, so much so that my road bike has stayed hooked up to my trainer pretty much all summer and fall. Still getting the hang of this gravel thing though 😅

Those who are doubting front suspension on a gravel bike are not paying attention to what’s happening in gravel. In a few short years front suspension and mountain bike tires will be common especially at the pointy end of some of the biggest gravel races.

I have the Weekend Warrior Transmission version of the Lauf Seigla with Rival components. Wished I went with the Race Transmission with the Force components and carbon wheels. That set up is much lighter. To improve the performance of the Weekend Warrior, I swapped the aluminum wheels with Farsports carbon gravel wheels (1210 grams). That saved nearly a pound. The next mod I added to reduce weight was swapping the Rival crankset (170mm)with the power meter with the Red XPLR crankset (165mm) without a power meter. I went with a 3D carbon saddle that is much lighter than the saddle that came on the bike. Now my bike (small frame, without pedals) weighs 8.42 kg. Same weight as the Ultimate version (medium frame).

The Lauf Siegla is definitely a step in the right direction, as is front suspension, but I think, and have been a huge proponent of is full suspension gravel. I believe the gravel industry will embrace FS in the future. Not outright copying mountain bikes as much but rather designing the suspension to suit gravel. My thoughts are 50-80mm's of front/ rear travel in a somewhat simple package. Mountain bikes such as the Trek SuperCaliper, Specialized Epic WC and maybe the Scott Spark RC could be used as a benchmark for gravel FS.

Would you rather opt for a compliance stem like Cane Creek or Redshift vs the suspension fork??

How does this bike feel when you swap out the gravel tires with ordinary road tires?

Hello (from another world-where I actually DO change gears with a bar-end lever and cable(someone call agent Smith! ;) Kidding aside, I do a lot of climbing and never go out of zone 2 unless I see a bear. On that 1x, you have jumps of 8 teeth on the last 2 on the cassette. On my 2x, I have jumps of 4 at the climbing end of my cassette. It allows me to always be in a comfy cadence when climbing. My own steel bike is about 20 lbs so I'm still not sure what the downside to 2x is-yet.
Love that Lauf fork. I always wanted an AMP parallelogram front fork in the 90's. Enjoy that new bike!

Do you ever switch to a road wheelset for when you do dedicated road rides?

Those are nice bikes and wish my gravel bike could fist that fork. It has similar clearance at 55mm(officially). I would suggest you test out the Continental Race Kings, comes in 50mm and 56mm sizes and they roll much nicer and faster than the Ramblers, while being a similar weight(at least the 50mm).

I wanted Seigla but 3T is having a clearance sale right now😭 really can't decide, as the rival version of it is cheaper than core wireless Seigla (rigid one comes pretty close, but considering delivery fees it becomes slightly expensive). I really am skeptical of pressfit on 3Ts, but they are pretty confident about their use of thread together pf. If Lauf did some promo discounts, it would be no brainer.
