Another helpful tip: pallet jacks work because the load is lifted. Pull the lever on the handle and lower the load onto the lift gate. That way, the pallet isn't free to move or roll around.

Shoot, when I used to deliver, I’d turn the pallet sideways, then lower the lift gate. And nice job helping them avoid the DOT violation Funk.

My number one tip on a pallet jack is when you feel unstable, squeeze the release to lower the pallet. 99/100 a lowered pallet is stable.

I'm teaching new guys at my work to operate pallet jacks around trucks properly, electric or not. They're always super thankful for all my tips and tricks. All new drivers should be taught how to do it BEFORE they're let out alone.

First: level lift. On slope, palletjack may run. Second: put pallet on lift, release jack, to make wood standing on lift floor. Whatever happens, wood is unable to roll by itself. Third: ride with lift to the ground. Last: elevate pallet on pallet jack and go wherever you need.

As a driver that uses a liftgate and electric jack every week, 100% spot on, you spin it and lower it so it cant move. A pallet sitting is a pallet that wobt slide as the lift goes down.

Seems like they also failed to lower the pallet fully so it sat on the gate. Shouldn't have been able to roll if they had done that.
