I did this talk for a friend who hated his dead end car wash manger job. He wanted to start a new life and escape where he is. “I told him to go join the army and leave. Find your new friends and family . I’ll be ok I got a new career on the way. Just go” I never saw him again 3 days after that. He bought me lunch the day before and said he made up his mind. And thanked me.
I hope he is loving his life where he is now. He was that good.

He told me I would end up reliving our conversation because I quitted before finishing. Man was he right. Can't tell you how many times I got this talk, 10 years in construction work while spiralling deeper into self destruction. No matter how much I tried life would always fill my lungs again. It took prison and a lot of inner searching. 2 years sober, unemployed and friendless I am finding just how true all those lectures were. I believe I am here for a reason which has yet to reveal itself to me. I can feel it like a hand reaching towards me in the void. I embrace its grip as cosmic bliss slips into my soul. My best friend and I are musicians and produce music and wanted to pursue it as a career. One night he came down to visit me and we sat in my driveway and I was venting daily about my household is simply too loud to record any music, and I deeply struggled to complete any project. He looked me straight in the eyes, almost fed up with how often I complained about it and just said “listen dude, you can bitch all you want about how you can’t record, don’t talk to me until you finish all your songs and release it….”

I was caught off guard because he genuinely believed in me…STILL does till this day. He checks in every once in a while but we both love releasing things and look forward to hearing each others feedback on each song we put out. It just put me back in my place mentally that our hobbies is what truly brings us joy and a great sense of accomplishment.
My best friend is what puts the cherry on top because that asshole pushed me!
