Here's one tip from an old timer. When stapling the fabric, and to avoid pluckers, wrap your fabric around a foot long ruler or thick paint stirring stick. Pull tight and staple 6" at a time. Without this you may pull too tight in one place and too loose next. Try it and you'll get straight and evenly tight sides. This is especially important using 2" and thicker foam.

This is an excellent video! my wife told me that I had upholstered a stool before - Many years ago, I couldn't remember! - and we needed to re-upholster a grand dining room chair that the cats had taken a fancy to - I watched the video, ordered material, did some notes and re-upholstered the chair in an afternoon.
