Fanny Mendelssohn (AKA Fanny Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel) is the older sister of the more well known composer Felix Mendelssohn. She composed over 460 pieces of music, but rarely gave public performances outside her family circle.

I discovered this rare gem many years ago. However, I've always felt like something is missing from it. I found it slightly disappointing that Fanny didn't take the opportunity to write some variations when the first section is recapitulated. And thus, as usual, I couldn't help but take some creative license with my interpretation. I especially enjoyed that major modulation at 1:20. It feels like a loving embrace after all the chaos and agitation. I loved the opening theme so much, I had to bring it back at the end as a faint whisper. Perhaps signifying a glimmer of hope in times of chaos and uncertainty?

This is my first time using an overhead angle, and I must say I'm quite pleased with the result. It's a very simple setup with an iPhone attached to a mic stand.

Another gem from this era. Knowing they are there to be heard and we just need to look harder to find them.

That was a really enjoyable performance :)
I don't really have a preference for either camera view, they're both good.
