The buyer has such an incredible advantage in these transactions. He knows the product better, what he can sell it for and he has the negotiating skills the buyers frequently lack. The sellers are often desperate to make a sale and have few options, so they are likely to take any offer that is borderline acceptable.

I'm probably going to get roasted for this, but the buyers always seem to get the better deal. The miners have to dig through dirt and rock in the heat and the flies, and put their lives at risk. The buyers just sit around with cash in their pockets waiting to make a, "deal." And they never seem to give a fair one. Just my opinion. 😐💦👎

Does anyone know if this is classified as rough opal? I read opal can go for $50 -$30, 000 per gram. These guys are getting about $160 per gram and it seems like high quality opal. There seems to be so many variables that make up price like colour, shape, size etc. It’s like these middle men (buyers) make the most money in regards to the effort, time, initial cost layout and risk compared to the miners.
