It’s super sad that majority of the things they sell for hermit crabs are toxic of harmful. They should only be selling safe products. Keep on educating people about their Hermies. ❤️ 🐚

All good advice. Hermit crabs, like hamsters and goldfish sadly come from an era where easy to breed pets were sold as toys. Big box pet stores have little motivation to change this idea, especially when it means they'll make more in profit. Thanks for giving the advice people need!

With my second hermit crab he was in a painted shell and when I got him home he transferred to a natural shell that same day. I don't understand why people like the look of painted shells. I personally like the look of the natural shells alot better

The reason you shouldn’t but any painted shells is that hermits like to nibble off of their shells for calcium for their own hard skin. If theres paint on the shell, it would be toxic and could kill the hermit. That’s why most sea shop hermits die quickly, even if you searched up that they could live for up to 5 years.

Sadly, some people don't understand that it doesn't matter about their looks and that it matters about their health. And thank you for putting that terrarium on the videos because I have seen so many videos where people buy the wrong homes for their pets. Some people put their turtles and snakes in there its just not ok. And it's not just hermit crab stuff that are toxic or unhealthy its actually with a lot of animal supplies that stores sell that are toxic/unhealthy I love these videos you make keep up the great work and don't listen to haters (not that I've seen any but just in case) 🦀 💞

I had a hermit crab that lived for 2 years. I took such good care of him even though I was just a kid. His name was Diggy because he loved to dig so much. He was also an escape artist. I would find him outside my bedroom door every morning for a week before I was finally able to figure out how he was getting out lol

I feel bad for my two childhood hermit crabs, the only right thing I did was give ‘em’ natural shells to swap into. RIP Pinchy and Shelly

Because of the fact that none of the pet stores I’ve been to sell shells that aren’t painted I had to go to a hobby lobby to get real shells that are supposed to be decorational. I did clean them and they are real shells but it is sad how hard it is to find real shells sometimes.

I have the exact same tank😂😂😂 it's big as hell... I have hermit crabs...one or 2 of them or maybe all of them are purple pinchers..we have a hamster wheel for them. Also one of mine named Slean hasn't changed from her shell since we got her...my second one is called Houdini because he once tried escaping but godly wich is my brothers and it's the biggest in the tank. Godly actually edged the glass roof of the tank over and escaped. We found him in the laundry😂😂😂 anyway God bless you and have a great day❤
