I filed my first ever claim in June for what i thought was Asthma, turns out I have COPD. I was approved at 30% in October. However, I only received back pay from Jun of 23. I called the VA and asked why I wasn't given back pay going back to Aug 22, and the guy on the phone says not everyone was qualified for that, but he wasn't able to tell me what the actual qualifications were. He did verify that my claim was properly submitted as a PACT act claim. I submitted an appeal. Anyone know why I might not be getting this back pay? This is my first and only VA disability rating. Thanks!

What is the first time I thought I had an issue was back June 6, 2011 and private or hospital neurologist told me that due to Agent Orange and I went into the VA and they said I didn’t qualify because I was a Bluewater sailor but I went to the VA back in 2011

On your scenario at 1:26
Yes, 81%+ 10% = 82, it doesn’t go to 90%
But if they file it in September 2023 & it’s granted @ 10% in October 2023\\ it’s 10% x 11 months and should be about $1, 500.

I was in the Navy as Damage Controlman. Got hurt on my Vertebra by my superior as Hate Crime. After fighting over 14 Years, now finally I am %100 p&t since feb 2023. I do not have cancer, i did not bother filing for pact act even though i was in Kuwait, iraqi waters in 2007(feb-jun) i am concern this pact act might create havic in my life, open up my ratings and danger my 100% status.. What you think Brother? And is there any one has any professional suggestions or ideas?

I was just granted 50% for sinusitis and 10% for rhinitus and now I'm 100% P&T but the VA only took my effective date back to when I submitted my claim which is May 25th 2023. Should I appeal my effective date to get it pushed back to August 22nd 2022, I'm not sure if that would mess up anything with me being 100%.

Im at 90% since 2021, I submitted my intent to file on last day aug 14th 2023. I finally got my claim submitted by oct 2023. I got my decision letter march 2024. 100% PT. Asthma 30% and Tinnitis 10% got me over the hump to 100%. The only back paid me until August 14th 2023. I feel like i should have got back pay until August 10th 2022. How do I file for back pay?
