This week's presenters:
Lawrence Gu, Dean, International, the British Columbia Institute of Technology

Dr. Lawrence Gu joined the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) as a faculty member in 1994. He started to direct the International Business Services department in 2005 and currently holds the position of the Dean, BCIT international. He also serves as a member of BCIT’s Leadership Team. Under Lawrence’s leadership, enrollment of international students has grown from approximately 300 to more than 6500 in 15 years. In addition, he is responsible for operations of a BCIT wholly owned subsidiary, TTA Technology Training Associates Ltd., which has been undertaking training projects for capacity building in developing countries.

Eric Fry, Associate Dean, Agile and Work Integrated Learning

Eric is responsible for operationalizing BCIT’s Agile Learning Initiatives. He collaborates with BCIT’s 6 Schools, 5 campuses, 300 full-time and over 1000 part-time programs to provide short, stackable, transferable, relevant, and responsive training opportunities to meet industry’s reskilling and upskilling needs.

Thank you for talking about this topic. In the Philippines, we still have not fully grapple the significance of offering short courses focused on industry skills so they students may start building a portfolio of skills .
