You can also do it with power armor pieces, all it does it randomly mods the power armor pieces so if you place a t-60 on the drawer and store it, it can turn into a t-60d with a random paint job, also it can work with weapons, but do not do it with legendaries as it will wipe the effects off of them. You can also have unlimited stash you just need to find a drawers or something that has 0/0 which means you can store all of your loot that can't fit in the stash box.
