Democrats be like, "Thanks to Jill Stein Russian voters we lost in 2016!"
Reality be like, "Gary Johnson got 3x as many votes as Jill Stein, theoretically taking away more votes from Trump than Stein did from Clinton"
Democrats be like, "Shut up Russian toadie!!! Just shut your face and vote Biden this time!"

It would be fair to point out that while a few loud people booed Gary Johnson's answer... he was the one that won the Libertarian nomination in 2016...

If he cared about representation he would cancel this silly run and dedicate himself to ranked choice voting

well, hopefully it will take some republican votes away from trump.

The way we got Trump is through the Libertarians. They pushed me out after 25 years as they all went hard right, then took over the Republican party but the extremists of the party pushed them out and pushed the Republican party to the hard, hard, right.

Prediction: jesse ventura will pull in twice as many votes as amash

The more candidates Balkanize the Republican vote, the better.

I think a broader political spectrum is certainly a step in the right direction. Right now it boils down to their moron vs our moron.

Nah, Amash is better than any Republican in congress.

Well, he's not entirely wrong. There's a lot of ppl that do feel the Dems and GOP don't represent them and what they want. The problem ofc is that Justin Amash doesn't in any way represent what they want.

There is an error on FiveThirtyEight where it says that Justin Amash voted with Trump 100% as a Republican in the 116th Congress. He did not vote with Trump 100% of the time as Republican in the 116th Congress. He voted with Trump about 90.3% of the time if you don't count 'present' votes, but if you count 'present' votes, he voted with Trump 82% of the time.

Also, you made a mistake when you said Amash has started to vote with Trump less. Actually, Amash voted the least with Trump when he was a Republican (54.2%) in 115th Congress, which makes sense because the Republicans were in control of the House when Amash was a Republican and he disagrees with Trump on many issues, so he only voted with Trump about 50% of the time. Whereas, when Amash became an independent in the 116th Congress, the House was and still is controlled by the Democrats, so Amash votes no on most of the bills because he disagrees with Democrats and their bills, which Trump also does not support. That's why it says Amash votes with Trump so much. The argument does not stand because there were different parties in power.

Dont be so sure. No he wont win. But he can get votes. I actually respect any right winger that isnt bowing to Trump.

See your vote blue no matter who isnt workable for people like me. Sorry. Can't do it. Not going to vote to replace Trump with Biden. Let's vote to remove one sexual predator and destroyer of normal peoples lives with another sexual predator and destroyer of peoples lives. No fucking way. There is no lesser of two evils there is just evil.

Abdual El-Sayed should run for his seat.

When are you going to cover Jesse Ventura?

John Kasich is probably the only one who could act as a spoiler to Trump, if he ran as an independent. But he won't

The only thing I don't get is if the people who don't like both parties are disproportionately liberal, why do the libertarians still kick the green party's ass in votes? I'm asking as a progressive btw.

115th congress is before 116th congress...

If I thought Amash had a chance at winning I'd never consider voting for him due to his record. But if the Libertarians appear to be the only third party with a shot at 5% of the popular vote, then yes, I will vote for him because it becomes a vote against the two party system.

Why vote on presidential candidates based on their views on issues which they have little control over (almost all of the ones discussed). A president's job is to execute on congress' decision. President's have direct control over wars and spying. Why not mainly vote for them based on this?
