In a virtual news conference, officials from Statistics Canada present findings from the fifth release of 2021 Census data. This release covers data on First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples, as well as Canada’s housing portrait. Speaking with reporters are Christopher Penney (director of the Centre for Indigenous Statistics and Partnerships) and Eric Olson (assistant director of the Centre for Income and Socioeconomic Well-being Statistics). The latest data reveals that Canada's Indigenous population continues to grow and is much younger than the rest of the population, though the pace of growth has slowed in recent years. Housing statistics show a decline in the country's homeownership rate over the past decade.
