Prominent pro-government Egyptian TV presenter, Ahmed Moussa, alleges that the Muslim Brotherhood, in conjunction with British intelligence, fabricated events surrounding the Rabaa massacre. He suggests that fake and manufactured scenes were created to misrepresent the events, aiming to target Egypt, its president, and its citizens.
On 14 August 2013 in Rabaa, Egyptian police officers forcibly dispersed tens of thousands of protesters demanding the return of former President Mohamed Morsi, following his ousting in a coup led by the current Egyptian president, Sisi.
The incident is considered the worst mass killing in Egypt’s modern history and “most likely constituted crimes against humanity” according to Human Rights Watch.
