Yeah, the sun is currently very active. Lots of sunspots and prominences, easily seen with a solar filter.

I swear I can actually see how the equatorial regions rotate faster than the surrounding regions(!)

i think that's an optical illusion because the sun is a sphere... but what do i know :D
