I also recommend BBC Orchestra Discover by Spitfire, which is free as well.
-
Also ProjectSAM's "The Free Orchestra" (if you own the full version of Kontakt, which is not free).
-
PS. If you're using FL Studio, make sure to enable "align tick lengths" in the Audio Settings, otherwise the SINE player might give problems.

A very enjoyable tutorial as always, Alex! Your editing has improved quite drastically since I started watching you several years ago, and adds quite much to your current videos. I like your new studio, as well. I anticpate your next video!

I downloaded both Layers and Labs. I got The Free Orchestra (now working with Kontact 6 player) and downloaded Komplete Start for free. I also ordered Spitfire BBC Symphony Orchestra, which is free if you fill out a questionnaire. There is a two week delay and it hasn't yet arrived. I've been listening to a lot of paid orchestral plug-in demos and the ones I like best so far are Orchestral Tools Metropolis Ark 1, Ark 2, and Junkie Brass. These sound really good. They will go on sale eventually and I will pick them up. In the meantime I can hone my skills with the freebies. Your channel is full of excellent content and you have opened my eyes to the world of orchestral composing. Thank you!

DSK Music was how I started off orchestral composition, although I come from a background working with sundry ethnic, "world instruments", and that's exactly where DSK excels. Middle Eastern/South Asian, East Asian, African, European, American, and Island instruments. They tend to be more supplementary these days in my projects, but they definitely are well-crafted for freebies. Highly worth checking out. Incidentally, they also have things like moogs, synths/leads and electronic instruments, and more experimental stuff for those who really get into the experimental nitty-gritty with their sounds. There are textures, pads and sound design stuff. Great developer!

I'm glad you like them. I had these among other free ones from Project Sam because I'm a neub and I'm learning with these tools. I also took advantage of Nucleus Lite's discount in early February.

It's great to see your emotions, feeling your music as it is being played, actively. There's complicity between you and your art!

The free Orchestra by Project SAM is also not bad and has since been updated with Kontakt Player compatibility - which means it is an entirely free library as Kontakt Player is also free.

Amazing how it sounds just out of the box, for being a free thing, I think people at east west quantum leap will have to step up their game about the free market, spitfire and project sam already made their move and it's quite amazing.
Awesome video man! thanks.

Layers sound really awesome. I'm just learning how to use it and I'm having some difficulties coming to terms with the fact that it's all chord-based. As a guitarist and keyboardist, I'm very stuck in my ways and it feels weird to not lay out the actual chords myself, but it is a clever concept and it sounds so great I'm gonna keep at it. Also, I love the way you sway with the music as it's playing. That adds an extra _layer_ to the video. ;)

I must say, after watching this video I am really very very impressed!!! You are a very gifted and extremely talented person. And your video motivates me to do more composing with orchestral libraries. Thank you for sharing your talent and thoughts with us!

Why haven't I noticed this before? This is the best thing I've ever seen appeared on my recommended session for my budget music composition.

After moving overseas for contract work, I decided to leave my violin and guitar behind with my family. Now with covid/travel ban, I really regret not bringing them with me.
But finding your review channel (yay ff14!) and hopping to this channel, it's filling the hole that I miss playing and now wanting to try re-/creating some melodies of my own until I can go back and pick up my instruments again. Thank you Alex for doing what you do and making our days better with your passion and excitement in listening/making cool music! Laliho!
