Love this SO MUCH. Might be biologist brain talking but limping deer imagery + the themes of the song remind me of Chronic Wasting Disease. The concept of slowly rotting from the inside out and leaving to not hurt anyone who gets close to you is so sadly poetic.

When I first saw the album cover I immediately thought of Chronic wasting disease because of the skeleton deer, how the prions are transmitted as animals move around, how they're dying inside. I especially like the line "Like spare coins, poised on the tip of my tongue" as 1. the prions can be transmitted through saliva and salt licks, 2. because ancient greeks used to put coins under the tongues of the dead, and 3. banger of a line I love it so much

I'm so excited to see another absolute banger of a Crane Wives song! I found the band in early 2022, through chrisrin's Last Life animation which used the song Curses. They have such great songs; my favorites are Hollow Moon, Take Me To War, Curses, Allies or Enemies, Stranger Fig, Canary in a Coal Mine, Tounges Before Teeth, and several others!! I'm excited to see what's probably another great song to come out :)
