Video: Unravel (The longest hand painted film in Britain)
Excerpt from 'Unravel' - The longest Hand Painted Film in Britain, a project visiting over 95 venues across the country and involving over 4000 participants in the making of the film.
Winner of the Deutsche Bank Award for Art at the Royal College of Art 2010, Unravel is an epic project that will create a hand painted film that correlates in length with the 874 miles between John O'Groats and Land's End - taking each metre between these two edges of mainland Britain as a ratio to equal one frame of 16mm film.
The visuals are the result of directly drawing, scratching and painting onto 16mm film using cameraless film techniques
In its final form the 16 hour long film will be shown as an installation in the venues and communities that have helped make it.
