EDIT 12/09/24: Further information has come out that makes it clear that in reality, Jonno Davies is playing Robbie and Robbie merely provides his narration and vocals for the songs. I want to clarify that I was misinformed at the time of making the review and information was more scarce. I meant no disrespect to Jonno Davies and his wonderful performance. And my point about Robbie being brave as an artist to revist these dark moments at least still apply for the narration and singing.

I'm definitely one of those clueless American dudes that isn't all that familiar with Robbie Williams, but this movie really surprised me in the best way possible. If you're a musical biopic fan or are just looking for an actually good January movie, give this a shot. Great review, Tanner!

Saw the movie yesterday. A chimp is the exact right thing to be Robbie. Full of energy and mischief!! It's a great movie. You find yourself laughing and crying with him. The eyes are Robbies. You feel his pain. He's self destructive and no matter how much his audience adores him, he can't believe it, his self esteem is rock bottom. Glad he's got a happy life now.

This is a 5/5 movie and the chimp is a perfect narrative device for what the movie wants to tell. It's quiet honest and ugly about its topic. Very compelling.

Loved the numbers especially Roxk D J and My way wirh his dad at the end but what got me was singing My Way with his dad at the start....the young Robert looking up to his dad that facial expression of wonderment and love for his dad really choked me up.

Great review, got here by chance.
Heard one of the reasons Robbie Williams did not get a lot of success outside Europe and or other places in the world, but not in USAm was due to people confusing him with Robin Williams.
