Cross sections are created at the location of the source strings. These source strings are initially created at a user defined spacing and section length using any one of the river interfaces writers.
The user may alter these sections as desired. These may be shortened if they intersect at sharp bends in the river; they may be extended at extremely wide river sections or extra points may be
added so that the section is no longer a straight line. Source strings can be deleted and additional sections can be added by creating new source strings
