Thank you for sharing and filming MacArthur park after midnight. I grew up around McArthur park from the mid 60s to late 90s. My father took me there as a child to play in the playground while he would listen to the Dodger games on his transistor radio. I learned how to roller skate and ride a bike in that park. As the years progressed (to make a long story short), I ended up getting caught up in the wrong crowd. i became addicted to crack and lived the life of "hell" that surrounded that life style. I lived that hell for 12 years. That whole area was nothing but prostitution, narcotics and sales of fake ID's and fake social security cards. Some of the local businesses on Alvarado street sold fake IDs there too. I was there as Rampart cops were full of corruption too. They would plant drugs on people, take confiscated drugs and put them back on the streets to make some $$ They would also "black-male" the prostitutes, for sexual favors. I've witnessed lots of things. Things that I won't mention. I remember friends seeing people being chased by the police, throw their guns into the lake. I remember the one time that the lake was drained during the construction of the Metro Rail that ran under the lake. There were many dead bodies discovered there too.
McArthur Park is a beautiful park. I remember the Jazz festivals that they held there and also the celebrations of Cinco De Mayo along with many other ceremonies as a child. I hope that it's cleaned up now. It was a wonderful thing to see and hear the children play in the playground with families enjoying a picnic. I hope that it's like that now. The fear of gangs and drugs made that disappear for a long time.

Cuando era niño en los 70s, mi papa nos llevaba a Macarthur Park seguido. A mi me encantaba!! Despues nos llevaba a comer a Clifton's Cafe. Muy lindas memorias. Despues de que empezo la guerra civil de San Salvador, la area cambio. Las banquetas se convirtieron en tiangises. Gentle se portaba mal, y, dejamos de ir. Ahorra es un desastre.
