THE BASICS:

Year: 2019
Make: Mitsubishi
Model: Eclipse Cross
Trim: SE

Type: compact crossover SUV that seats 5
MSRP: $28,265

HISTORY:
+ This is a brand new vehicle for Mitsubishi. They started making the Eclipse Cross in 2018 so this only the second year it's available.

Wheels:
+ 18" aluminum alloy wheels. Bridgestone tires.

UNDER THE HOOD:
+ Engine: 1.5L Direct-Injection Turbo Engine with "Super" All-Wheel Control S-AWC.
+ Transmission: CVT (continuously variable transmission) or you could call it a shiftless transmission, single-speed transmission, I think you get the idea. No gears to shift through.
+ Horsepower: 152 hp @ 5,500 rps
+ Towing capacity: 1,500 lbs
+ MPG City: 25
+ MPG Highway: 26
+ Combined MPG: 25
+ Fuel Tank Capacity: 15.8 gallsons
+ Cost for a full tank: Takes regular unleaded gas. Gas by me is $3.12/gallon. 3.12 x 15.8 = $49.30

HANDLING:
Solid. Comfortable at high speeds and easy to park in tight spaces. No issues.

ACCELERATION:
Okay in normal mode, very slow in eco mode, and not fun to drives. I think the best way to summarize my experience would be..."ehh".

FINAL THOUGHTS:
I enjoyed driving the Eclipse Cross, but only because it's new. Frankly, it doesn't compare to something like the Ford Edge. But I'm happy to see that Mitsubishi is trying something new and I'm curious to see how to Eclipse Cross grows in the years to come. I think it has a lot of potential, but right now, in its current form, it's just not very exciting.

I still find it difficult to be honest/critical of a vehicle, but keep the overall tone of a review positive. I hope I accomplished that with this review, because I genuinely like the Eclipse Cross, I just don't think it's met it's potential yet. Anyway, thanks for checking out my review. Hope your day is going well. ✌

Seen one of these in person and I’m not really a big fan of SUV’s at all but I could even admit it was a very stylish car especially the backend

If anyone plans to buy a new vehicle, it would be wise to look at your videos. Very thorough and informative.

Love the concept of the channel - drive 100 rental cars and review them. Awesome! I think you hit most of the bullet points. We love the Eclipse Cross too. Thanks for sharing!

got fully loaded one, fun car to drive, specially in "gravel mode" with "eco" mode off, almost like a sports mode. Took EC camping this summer and went up 30km on the forestry roads, S-AWC handles it like a dream, with occasional drifts here n there for some added fun if you're going over 70km/h

Thanks for the shout out man, I really appreciate it. And as someone who does videos on YT every now and then I know just how much work it is to edit these videos so you definitely deserve something for all the time you put in for our entertainment.

As for the car, it seems like there's a lot of cheapish looking plastic on the interior. Not a big fan of that, but I definitely like the hard cover over the SOS button. I think all vehicles should have some form of physical lockout of that button to ensure no accidental presses. Great video as always.

I might be wrong but I think this may have dual injection. That's what I read once before. If it does, that is a bonus compared to just direct injected. Which means Mitsubishi is smart.

Howdy brother...Hope your Memorial day weekend goes well. Another fine review! Speaking for myself I would go with this Mitsu. Why? It's quirky and out of the ordinary looking. To each their own, dontcha think? I'd going for the top of the line model myself, but this model you tested ain't chopped liver...😄...(levity, friend!). Looking forward to your next review. As always, Peace! ♐

Your lucky you got a SE and not and ES. They are a mix of SEs and Es’s on rental lots. When I flew into STL a few weeks ago National had a ton of these on the Emerald aisle and most had less then 100 miles on it. I didn’t want to drive an Mitsubishi all the way to Chicago so I ended up picking a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited with only 90 miles on it. The Cherokee was slow but it was a super nice car.

Words of caution. Mitsubishi is partially owned by Nissan, and utilizes the horrendous NISSAN-JATCO continuously variable transmission. The JATCO CVT is known for breaking the bands in the CVT and transmission overheating troubles. It is not a very durable transmission, and it's known for premature failures... ⚠

I'm a little confused by this car. What does it do that an Outlander Sport doesn't do as well or better for thousands of dollars less without the added complexity of a turbo?

@100RentalCars --- Ya gotta work on describing handling. Can't just say it has "good" handling or is easy to park, etc. That doesn't tell the audience anything. Is the steering light or heavy? Is there play in the steering at low speed/high speed? How is the steering ratio?

Hope you get to test out the new 2020 Corolla and see how it compares to the previous model.

Eco mode on many vehicles (mine included) retards the throttle response. You’re better off only using that on the highway when you have the cruise on....it will slowly bring your car up to speed (I have adaptive cruise) rather than drop two or three gears to catch up to the traffic ahead of you. I would never use it in normal driving. It’s borderline dangerous

nice review, mitsubishi should have gone with a safer design for the back, while it does not look bad, its not for everyone. a redesign of the back should be their main focus right now. they also need to include rear air vents, all the competition has it, even toyota. this will be competing with the mazda cx5, and crv. the cross looks like it has some potential though but everyone is pre occupied with the back of it to take it seriously.
