Make your pick: RAV4 gas or RAV4 a wild card pick -- RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid? Merry Christmas everyone! Jeff

Just recently bought ‘24 Hybrid, love it. No starter, no belts, no alternator, electric compressor and water pump. No accessory belts, with an electric power steering pump. it’s a no brainer. I’m averaging 44 mpg. Plus, Toyota has been perfecting this synergy hybrid technology since 2018.

4 Months ago I bought, what I consider to be, the most reliable and best MPG gas Rav4. I get 30mpg city and 40 highway. 2024 Rav4 XLE. Mine has the flat roof rails and no moon roof, for less wind resistance and minimal wind noise. Hybrid would have been nice but $3k extra, was over my retired budget.

I currently have a 2018 Rav4 Hybrid Limited that just reached 46, 000 miles. It still drives great with excellent gas mileage. The only problems it has encountered are replacing the blower motor for the HVAC system several times, all but one time under warranty, and three of the four power door lock actuators, which are known to be problematic on numerous Toyota models from these years. Otherwise, other than maintenance and tires, the vehicle has been rock-solid reliable, with no issues whatsoever related to starting and running.

I took delivery of my 2024 Rav4 Hybrid Cruiser (Frosted white/Nutmeg interior) this Christmas Eve… what an astonishing vehicle!!

I hadn’t been inside or even test-driven one when I purchased it… but I knew it’s a Toyota Hybrid, the best selling vehicle in Australia and in the SUV segment in the US.

If Toyota still offered a naturally aspirated V6 AWD version of the RAV4, it would’ve been a no-brainer for me. Since that’s not the case anymore, it would be the RAV4 Hybrid for me.

Amazing that people still think an ECVT is a CVT.

I would get Gas because it's simpler hence more reliable. Gas has 8 speed auto transmission that has better driving feel compared to eCVT. All wheel drive on Gas would be better than hybrid. I do 5000 miles a year and gas savings will be hard to justify.

Great video, Jeff. That’s exactly what I want. Black & hybrid.

Hybrid winds hands-down. More reliable. Quieter. Fantastic transmission. Much better mileage. No drive belt to wear out. Brakes last forever. More horsepower.

It's not a fake vent. It's a placeholder for the fog lights. 😂 I got the ice cap white XLE awd.

I was really mixed on which way to go. I’m still concerned with what the mining for materials does to the earth (outweighs the pollution from gas). Just bought 2025 RAV4 gas Limited.

Jeff, Merry Christmas to you and your 187, 000 subscribers. 🎄🎄 I would also like to take the opportunity to wish Merry Christmas to the people who build these RAV4s in Woodstock, Ontario, Cambridge, Ontario, Georgetown, Kentucky and over in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Make sense to get hybrid if gas price gets higher and you drive more. Toyota eCVT is the most efficient and reliable hybrid drivetrain in the market.

gas for me. i have no issue with hybrid. but from what i seen/heard is that the hybrid awd system isnt all that strong and tends to overheat when pushed in a overland situation. personally i rather have a hydrogen powered car but it is what is. also there was no hybrid models at my dealership that wasnt a used rental and we all know how well taken care of those cars are.

Why hybrid models doesn't power Multinterrain like snow mode for example similar to the gas? That means gas will do better in snow??
