⚠️ Spoiler alert: Cranioplasty/craniectomy

Here you can see a female patient who has undergone a surgical removal of the frontal bone of the cranium (✅craniectomy)

You can see the brain pulsating underneath

In this particular case, this lady suffered with breast cancer that invaded the underlying ribs…

To reconstruct the ribs, bone was taken from the frontal bone (a form of cranioplasty)

Craniectomies are also classically used to relieve intracranial pressure e.g in haemorrhagic strokes.
