Thank you for this information. I had a bad break on the third part of my pinky finger. I got a splint from urgent care until I saw my primary then they referred me to a specialist. That was 3.5 weeks after my break. She immediately let me know I needed surgery as much hand would not closed as how my break on my pinky finger happened.
After 6.5 weeks I got a partial cast taken off and not only my pinky but my ring fing are soo stiff and so not move. Knuckles are swollen on both fingers but my pinky is still very swollen obviously.
I appreciate the information that it will take time for me nother fingers to heal as part of my palm is still very sensitive

Thankyou for your calm words. Made me feel at ease as I broke my little finger 2 weeks ago and now my specialist says I have to start exercises, but its so stiff, swollen and sore, but now I know this is normal 🤙

Fractured my pinky 3 weeks ago. Tbh I’ve taken my splint on and off and moved it around. I’m glad to know the swelling is normal on my knuckle bc I was thinking that would keep me out of walk on tryouts for baseball

I'm on my second distal phalanx fracture. The first was about ten years ago, to my index finger of my left hand. That healed well with splinting. I fractured the middle finger of the same hand about 6 weeks ago. Have splinted it since but noticed persistent laxity, which didn't seem to be the case with the first. Went in for an xray and found out it was not only displaced by about 2mm but that it was an avulsion fracture (dorsal, apparently) as well. Have now been referred to plastics but am expecting a bit of a wait since I'm in Canada.

Was curious how they'd repair it, and listening to you describe pinning makes sense – though I am still curious about the how the avulsion is handled.

Thank you! I wondered how long my fractured figure would ache and be stiff after being confined to a splint for 6 weeks. I'm stretching it as much as possible all day long. I need the full use of my right hand again. I appreciated knowing that my nuckle on my ring finger could be swollen for 3-6 months. I had no idea.

I am hoping this aching pain will subside soon. I can make a first but it is painful. I have a high tolerance for pain so I will keep working at the flexibility to get my full range of motion restored.

I have a concept of turning pain off with mind... It seems to work... And expedite healing... So goes to the axiom... Just seems to be some internal impetus dynamic that is turned up if you will with this serendipitous method of turning off pain with the mind... Back in September I broke my pinkie finger it busted the joint and my knuckle I had to have wire put in it but the wire broke and was stuck in my hand so I had to have surgery to have the wires removed
