If anyone is interested, there isn't really any maths involved in this, just deck manipulation. Your lucky 7 card is placed in the 21st position from the bottom of the deck. The cards in the spectator's 2nd pile come from the bottom of the deck. When they cut that 2nd pile to select their card, they will be placing that half down first before placing the remaining cards on top, then you place your pile on top of that, always ensuring that their card is the 21st card from your lucky 7.

It doesn't matter how many cards the spectator has in their first pile (from the top of the deck) as these are not used and are just a distraction - it might help to imagine that pile isn't even there. If you pick one of the bottom 20 cards at random and place it down first before putting the other cards on top, it'll always be the 21st card from the lucky 7.

Hi, great trick, i love the self working tricks as they give so much freedom for performance and story. I think you were maybe mistaken as this trick does not require a full deck of 52, it can be done with any decent number of cards, and the number can be changed if fewer "lucky"cards are needed. but great trick, definitely adding it to my arsenal :)
