One thing I really loved about Keanu's performance as Shadow, was that he wasn't just a deep menacing voice. If you listen closely to Shadow's voice, especially earlier in the film, there's slight hints of shakiness in his voice, almost like the deep voice is a facade he puts up to hide his grief and despair.
