Find more details here

3) TWO COURSES TO CHOOSE FROM:

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO COURSES:

Take Your House Back is hosted with three of us, myself, Dana from A Slob Comes Clean and Cas from Clutterbug. We talk big picture about how to declutter and focus a lot of attention on working through obstacles like sentimental items, unsupportive family members and other hang-ups. This course is FUN, there is a lot of involvement from all three of us and the ideas are specific to those who haven't been successful in the past.

Ideal for those who have been decluttering for a long time with little success and those looking for more community and support.

In the Declutter Your Home in 15 Minutes a Day course we go through the workbook, breaking down specific areas of your home in detail to be able to declutter faster and with more confidence. If you want to know specifics (like how many of each thing to keep) this course is for you.

I cried watching this video. I’ve been following you for a while and I love your videos, but this one hit “the spot”. I have 5 kids, ages from 6-13, and my husband works a lot. I’ve been drowning at home for over a decade. Over the past few weeks, my phone has “photo memories from years prior” and apparently every year mid-June I take photos of the overwhelming clutter that overtakes our home the first week the kids are home from school, and I just break down. But I take photos, and vow this will be the LAST time, and I’ll have before/after photos to celebrate. This week showed me year, after year, a decade plus, of photos of a cluttered home. 😭 So I started rewatching your videos but I always stopped - “gotta get these stains out, can’t waste a shirt”, “can’t throw these away”, “someone could use these somewhere”, “what if we have guests that need these”… etc. I felt defeated and really depressed today and was excited to see I missed a video you posted. And I cried, hearing (and realizing it’s true), that I CAN run my house how I want, throw things away, keep minimal inventory, not need 5000 craft items, books, toys, just because I have 5 kids. I can buy things later we’ll need down the road and not have to store them right now. I don’t know why, but what you said hit home in so many ways of things I guilt myself into doing because “other people do” or “society trained us this is what we do”. What a message. This is so freeing. Thank you. 🥲❤️

I love your comment about giving yourself permission to run your household the way you choose and feel is appropriate. We live in a time where we are hyperfocused on cloning everyone else in every way. It's refreshing and freeing to know yourself and live in an authentic way.

Came here to say that in Australia we use eucalyptus oil for colds to clear airways really effectively. Put a couple of drops onto a handkerchief or cotton pad and breath it in, put beside your pillow at bedtime. Also great to remove sticker goo from furniture or hard surfaces. We keep it in the medicine box.

Can I tell you how much I respect the fact that you used a curtain that makes your heart happy no matter what anyone else says? A ton. A big honking ton of respect. Happy Friday, sweetie.

Dawn, I've never understood why people do laundry stripping in a bathtub. Lots of mess and time consuming. All you need to do is add all your clothes and the ingredients to your washer, let it agitate for a few minutes, turn it off and let it soak. If you want you can come back a few times and let it agitate a few more minutes. I let my laundry soak for about an hour and then let it finish out the cycle...boom!...clean laundry and no mess or hauling dripping wet clothes from the bathtub to the washer.

Eucalyptus oil is only used for oil spits, not stain from other things or dye leaching out of fabrics. It is excellent for cooking oil splashes on shirt fronts. You put it neat on the oli spot then wash the item. It is also used as a few drops on a tissue and inhaled to clear blocked noses, or for adding a few drops in a wash to deodorise

"I can run my household in a way that works for me, and not how other people run theirs🙌❤❤ I listened to that part a few times. Thank you❤

♥️ the valance. It carries the teal color from other items in the laundry room and creates balance. Very cute & the pompoms are fun!

I really love that you include color in your home. While neutral minimalist shades are pretty, I love that colors and patterns bring warmth and coziness into a home. 😊

Eucalyptus oil is amazing for removing sticky residue from stickers or labels or price tags, and leaving a clean fragrance when cleaning (but I am an Aussie) I use it all the time!

I've been watching your videos where hubby(King of hoarding and dumping) can hear them and de cluttering my own things.
This week he cleaned out his work shed and this weekend he has suggested that we declutter the whole house and garden sheds. Which I totally am taking him up on. It's an easy win because a lot of the items are not even ours they're from the previous owner over 6 years ago.
The system is working. I'm totally filling up the garage shelves with empty boxes with fake boring lables so he doesn't know there's room 😉

Your comments about "bandwidth" always resonate - akin to the 4 burner idea. My house has to be super simple. With two full-time working parents and three young children, I am full out of bandwidth most evenings. Our house is also really small for our family size. But it's getting "bigger" the more I declutter. I can now have my living room and kids' room picked up in less than 5 mins. Win!

Eucalyptus oil is fantastic if you have a headache or sinus congestion. If I have a headache or I’m tired just take a drop, rub it in my hands and lightly breathe it in. Headache gone. Also you can take a bowl with hot (not super hot just so it steams) put a drop of eucalyptus oil, drape a towel over your head. Great for sinus issues.

Love seeing this. I want my own washer so bad. We have a communal washing room and it’s fine but I’d love to do one load a day.

Here in Sweden there’s a rental service for kids’ outerwear. They have all the best Scandinavian brands and all sizes. When you’re done with it you send it back unwashed and they wash it, mend it if needed, and rent it out to someone else. It adds up to costing about as much as buying new so money wise it isn’t amazing, but the feeling when you put those bulky, muddy items in a bag and just send it back is absolutely PRICELESS. I buy everything else second hand, but renting outerwear is just so so so convenient. If my kids outgrow something I can change it for free, too.

I LOVE the idea of "inventory." It has really helped me on my journey of minimalism. Thank you

Thank you Dawn for your One hamper rule. We have been consistently doing it for one year and its worked AMAZING. No more dirty clothes in random places. Now the only thing I find is random socks the kids toss when they're hot. But I would add one thing. My old hamper held about 2.5 loads of laundry, and things that hold things WILL hold things. . . So I used a plain white kitchen trash bin (13 gallon) and that's about the load size for out washer. Now I do one load of regular laundry a day and there is NO SPACE in the bin to hold towels, sheets, blankets etc. So I HAVE TO strip the beds and wash them dry them and put them back on. Only get the towels when im going to wash them complete the load and put them back. We each have just one set of sheets and one towel. But it has been a life saver to have a smaller laundry bin.

Dawn Dish Soap is my go to stain remover. It's removed washed and dried in stains. I've saved many a t-shirt with it.

You’ve remotivated me to get back to a more minimal home this summer. One year of homeschooling and I’ve realized there’s things we just don’t have time for anymore, and that’s okay.

When things are hand wash only I still put it in the machine. 😅 If it looks particularly delicate I’ll put it in one of those mesh wash bags to keep it from getting snagged or ripped. What will be will be. lol.
