Yerba Buena is the original name of the area which later became San Francisco. The Yerba Buena Gardens which is located between Mission Street and Folsom, is a two block public park dedicated to the Mexican settlement in the 18th century.

The Metreon is a shopping center located next to Yerba Buena Gardens and the Moscone Center, and was first opened in 1999. It was developed by Sony and contains over 25 stores and restaurants. Yerba Buena Gardens contains many arts and attractions including the Martin Luther King Memorial, the LeRoy King Carousel, a bowling alley, ice skating rink, a children's museum, shopping mall, and a movie theater.
