Hey Josh, I got the R5C in late 2022 and I couldn't be more obsessed with the camera until today. It still gets me those excitement using the R5C on every single shoot. I've produced so many work with this workhorse of a camera and I'm not even a little bit swayed by the R5II. That's good news! Hope a future firmware update might also facilitate 60p raw with the new batteries also.

I hope Canon will make a firmware update to enable 8K-RAW LT 60fps when using the new battery without a powerbank in the R5C (for gimbal work), because we know that there is enough power in the battery for this. I also hope Canon will bring a firmware upgrade to run the R5ii in 8K-RAW LT 60 by using the older batteries but with an attached power bank. Both cases delyver enough power for 8K-RAW 60, so please, Canon jump over the cripple hammer tactic. I also hope to get the animal-AF from the C400 in the R5C, with this two small upgrades, the R5C would become much better. But right now, Canon won't do these steps as it would cut down the selling amount for the R5MKII.

I preordered these batteries when they were announced with the r5. Mkii.
You are correct Josh I am getting around an hour and a half continuous run time with the new lpe6p battery.
I figured if the new battery is designed for the power hungry R5MKII then the increased amperage would benefit the R5C.

Glad i held on to the order of the batteries when i cancelled the r5ii pre order. Didn't move ahead with the R5ii but i suspected the batteries will benefit the the r5c i already have.

I also wanted to add the LPE6P are in stock at woodland hills camera as of this post.
I preordered my first one from bh photo that arrived 20 aug.
After I verified it indeed did work and increase the r5c runtime I ordered a second from Woodland Hills camera that arrived two days ago.
Also 8k60p still will not give you auto focus as of this post with the new battery, but all other modes work flawlessly.
I wonder if a firmware update would allow the new battery to power 8k60p with full functionality on the r5c?.

The reason why there's still battery available in photo mode, is most like due to the fact the cinema OS is programmed to run overscan sampling all the time, EVEN WHEN NOT SHOOTING mind you. it boggles my mind why the damn thing has to do this ALL the time. for those of you smart enough when NOT recording, hit the media Botton, and the overscan mode is turned off. A simple firmware upgrade, would save a whole bunch of energy, between takes. As i've mentioned, hit the MEDIA button between takes and it'll last longer. thanks for letting us know about the P battery, it's great to know.

Hay Josh, hope the trip in Alaska is going well. Watched you guys live stream. Canon is on fire right now. The C80 and I think RED knew this was coming and drpped their prices. We stil got 1 more cinema camera to come. I'm hoping for the R5Cii, certainly looking forward to hear your review. Wouldn't surprise me if you make a special appearance before the end of the trip.

Do you typically run multiple trials with the same type of battery in a specific camera to gather several data points, and then averaging, or do you usually conduct a single test to collect one data point?

Watching this video it came to my mind a very old story with the Canon EOS 620, at the time, I made a discovery. When the camera was off, if I took the battery out, the battery it lasted longer. The battery lasted less if I left it in and the camera was off. I tried several times, it was just like that. It's been a long time, I don't have never experimented this fact with the latest generation machines. 😅
