You have me yearning for a twinkle. Hoping for cinnamon. I was at Hausermanns orchids this last week. US-Chicago. I was praying for a twinkle of any kind. Had to settle for a mini Paph (pretty bloom must have) and a few jewels for my son. I continue to live through you vicariously.

Hi roger, I hope all's well....ive been a gardener/grower for about 45 years and was born with an extraordinary gift when it comes to plant growing....im a little autistic and its my savant so to speak....i thought I'd share a very good orchid tip with you....most people think the roots are the only way to fertilize orchids and that's not true....with orchids being epiphytes their leaves/pseudobulbs and stems are just as capable absorbing and circulating nutrients as the roots are if not even better than them....you need roots to provide energy to the plant to grow but you need energy to grow roots....so what I do is I only water the roots and I foliar feed the top growth because foliar feeding makes the nutrients instantly available to the plant and it triggers big growth spurts and major root development....i use half strength fertilizer and micro ingredients and sometimes a topical fungicide to keep the chance of rot down if needed into a spray bottle and use once a week....if you do this with your ailing and dying plants and all your other orchids they will reroot and grow in record time....you don't have to soak them with the spray...just lightly mist the whole plant in the morning so they'll be dry by nightfall after watering the roots....you should notice big positive changes in a very short amount of time....lol sorry about the length of my comment but am just bein thorough with my info

Been there done that now I don't feel quite so bad but I'm not the only one on this planet that actually does exactly what you just did. But mine was a terracotta pot with a cattlya in it.

Yes; have been looking for Cinnamon. I use small bark and grow stone only but my environment is drier maybe than yours. This is a popular Oncid group. Thank you and keep us in the progress loop. They like more moisture than the other Oncidium in my small collection. Calcium in cal mag helps to stop rotting and improves Nitrogen processing for marginal plants; for me anyway. Keep us posted and appreciate your time.

The charcoal is to hep keep the potting medium from souring… good for plants in soil too!

I was using charcoal as well because everyone using it. Now I don't use it simply because I don't like dirty hands and I'm sensitive to dust. And oh boy there is no difference 😂
Sorry for any mistakes. English is not my native language

What are "grow stones"? I live in Canada & have never heard of it. Through my screen it looks like it might be large pumice.
