DIY Shower Wall Refinishing Using Bathworks Kit

As part of my overall bathroom makeover, I wanted to try and refinish the old, outdated-looking, cultured marble shower walls. I have no issue with the cultured marble, but the color is hideous in my opinion. I looked around online and settled on a product called Bathworks, a DIY refinishing kit meant to be used on sinks, bathtubs and shower walls. The process is simple and easy to follow, and very similar to painting. In the second half of this video, I give an in-depth “after action report”, explaining what I think I did right, wrong, and what could have been done differently.

You did a great job prepping and execution- the problem areas your highlighting I think it’s bc of the black color making it stand out more. I bet if you did it all white wouldn’t be noticeable. I have the same wrap around and debating to do this or tear it out all together. Great video thanks 🙏

I think you might be a little critical on this product it stinks by design it's a super heavy duty paint that is meant to be super durable you have good tips on the respirator I just got done painting my bathtub and shower I'm not a painter by any means I had drips myself technique definitely helps I do agree they should give you more paint as far as the bubbles I believe that is due to to aggressively mixing which they specifically say not to do also your color choice black will probably show most imperfections also by design of the color let's face it all looks away the hell better than It used to 👍

What did you use to plug the holes from the door mount & how has that held up?

I seen your comments below so I can respect that..Did you get a refund? I used this product and the coverage is bunk. The little woman actually used 2 kits to do just the tile surround so it was extra think on the walls. Was it extra durable, not hardly. I wouldn't waste my time on this product. It's been 2 weeks since the application and I can already see bare tile underneath. Let's see what the manufacture has to say about it, oddly, there is nothing about the warranty in the kit. Now I'm out about 300 dollars and still have to replace my tiles....short cuts aren't allowed in life people..

What did you use to fill the screw holes left behind by the shower doors?

Here is something: Looks as if the original cultured marble shower surround has yellowed a lot over the years. I suspect that the fluorescent lighting over the decades did that. I would replace the fluorescent with an LED "put-in-place replacement tube that won't have UV radiation. Might be a moot point since you are refinishing but the LED tubes will save on energy.

Do not buy this product. I used it and it failed by the next day. it started peeling in 2 spots. I followed the instructions as it was written. I'm also a car painter and know how to properly prepare a surface before refinishing it.
