Aspendos Theatre - Serik, Turkey

Aspendos theatre was built in 1556 by the Greek architect Zenon who lived in Aspendos. It is the best-preserved theatre of antiquity and because of its amazing acoustics, opera and ballet festivals are still held there today.
The amphiteatre hosts the annual Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival which is organized by the Turkish State Opera and Ballet, and can accomodate around 10,000 people.
Recent operas in Aspendos theatre have included Carmen, Medea, Othello, Barbarossa and Swan Lake.
Even if you don't get a chance to listen to music in the amphitheatre, it is well worth a visit.
