It was probably an Anet A8 (or similar clone i3) printer that was converted to an AM8 (acrylic frame replaced with the alum extrusions) and then had the board and hotend changed to a V6 using the Prusa's hotend stls modified with a Bltouch instead of the PINDA. That was my first printer years ago and I recognize a lot of the printed parts on the frame

This is interesting. I did something very similar but I went in the completely opposite direction. Instead of getting a broken printer and fixing it up I bought a perfectly good printer and broke it. 😂😂

Great to see the whole project in one video! An interesting journey - I learnt a lot from it - Thank you! 😀

1:00:45 Print yourself a nice cable chain. Also, 1:05:55 You should change the end gcode in your slicer to move the bed forward and move the nozzle to the side so you can easily remove the bed.

Main Comment - Q&A (Will be updated)
Have any questions? Feel free to ask!
Did I forget something? Please let me know!
Any tips/feedback on this video/project or in general are always appreciated 😄

* Did I fix the bed cable relief in the end?
Yes, although I forgot to show it. I remodelled the part and reinstalled it. It's much more rigid now, and the cable's won't be strained.

* Why's the audio all over the place?
Some areas are normalized, while others are not, despite using normalization tools, noise reduction, voice isolation, and other audio fx. Microphone choice and placement changes frequently. It should all be stereo. A mashup this large was a bit more annoying to control than expected.

Quick question about the makerbase, I can't get power from my meanwell supply on my Qidi Xmax, the printer shuts off seeming like there is a polarity mistake but It's properly wired. Any idea what might. cause this? Thanks

This is such a unique channel (I'm referencing several videos I watched, not this one in particular)... these videos are such a good learning resource for seeing what NOT to do. These decisions are so erratic and poorly reasoned that modifications are necessary to fix the problems caused by poor choices. The decisions that saved money on initial purchase also resulted in spending lots of unnecessary money to fault strangely identified faults by strangely construed measures... wow.... I hope people don't get the idea that buying a used printer and refurbishing it is anywhere near this difficult... and yes, sometimes it's better to buy a new printer than a poorly chosen 2nd hand one.

I spent half the video saying change the thermistor and heat cartridge.

I forget how low the v6's flowrate was... the audacity to charge like $60 for one of those back in the day was insane lmao
